The Windsor Fire Department is dedicated to working in partnership with the community and striving to develop mutual respect and pride in ourselves and the community.

WFPD Services 

Emergency Response, including

  • Fire—structure, vegetation, vehicle, etc.
  • Medical—basic life support (BLS); automated external defibrillator; staff are EMT’s
  • Motor vehicle accidents—including extrication
  • Rescue—drowning, cave-in, etc.
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat)—first responder: scene control, substance containment

Fire Prevention, including

  • Plan review—assure fire- and life-safety code compliance
  • Inspections—assure fire- and life-safety code compliance

Non-Emergency Response

  • Public service assistance, e.g., child locked in car, smoke removal, etc.

Public Education

  • Visits to schools and hosting field trips
  • Address community groups on fire safety, disaster preparedness, etc.
  • Participate in community groups’ “safety day” events
  • Attend neighborhood events

Windsor Fire Protection District Service Area

The Windsor Fire Protection District (WFPD) is responsible for providing fire protection, emergency medical, and other emergency response services to a 30.75 square mile area that includes the Town of Windsor (5 square miles) and an adjacent portion of Sonoma County unincorporated area (25.75 square miles).
