June 19 - Hearing regarding Special Tax The Board of Directors of the Windsor Fire Protection District held a public hearing on Thursday, June 19, 2003, at 7:00 pm, at Windsor Fire Protection District Station 1, 8200 Old Redwood Highway, Windsor, to consider an ordinance imposing a new special tax on behalf of the District. The Board unanimously approved the proposed ordinance after a public hearing in which one member from the pubic spoke. The ordinance will be submitted to the voters of the District at a special election on Tuesday, September 16, 2003, and must be approved by two-thirds of the voters voting on the question in order for the special tax to go into effect. The new special tax would be imposed to assist the District in meeting the costs of providing authorized services and exercising other rights and powers of the District. The new special tax would be imposed on each Assessor's parcel within the boundaries of the District and would be based on the use or right of use of each parcel. Approval of the tax would establish a special tax limit of $112.00 per unit of risk. The new special tax would be collected by the County of Sonoma on behalf of the District in the same manner and subject to the same penalty as other charges and taxes fixed and collected by the County of Sonoma. Further information about the proposed ordinance and the special tax is available during regular business hours at the District's offices at 8200 Old Redwood Highway, Windsor, California or by calling 838-1170. |
