Fire Department Seeking Helpers Windsor CA – The Windsor Fire Protection District (WFPD) is looking to improve emergency service in Windsor and needs volunteers to help make it happen. “We need help from the community to pass Measure V on the November ballot,” said Fire Chief Ron Collier. WFPD is an independent fire district, supported solely by property and special tax revenue. Measure V seeks to increase the special tax assessment. The assessment amount has not increased since the District was formed in 1986. Community support and assistance is seen as key to the measure’s success. “We are looking for as many people as possible who have some time and energy to devote to this important task,” Collier added. “If you share our conviction that Windsor needs and deserves at least a basic level of fire service, then we want to hear from you.” The Windsor Fire Protection District was founded in 1986, supported solely by property and special tax revenue. The District serves 30 square miles and a population of 30,000 with two people on duty each day. In 2003, the department responded to 1,767 calls and is on course to exceed 1,800 this year. Anyone interested in helping should contact Chief Ron Collier at (707) 838 1170. ### Contact: Ron Collier NOTE: Photographs are copyrighted by Windsor Fire Protection District and can only be used with permission. |
