Fire Board Seeks Applicants to Fill Board of Directors Vacancy
Windsor CA – The Windsor Fire Protection District Board of Directors
is seeking applicants to fill an opening on the Board.
Fire service experience is not necessary. Windsor Board President
Pat McDowell said, “Although many may think of the fire department
as being just about emergency response, the Fire District actually
is a business that, this year, is operating with $2.6 million
budget. Business acumen is by far the most important quality we are
looking for.”
“This is an exciting and important time in our District,” said Fire
Chief Ron Collier. “Like our community, our department is growing.
We have doubled our suppression staff since this time last year and,
in partnership with the Town of Windsor, we have ordered a ladder
truck and are underway building the new station on Windsor Road.
What we accomplish over the next couple of years will affect
emergency services response for years to come. This is a great
opportunity for a creative, motivated, experienced person to make a
difference.”
The WFPD Board meets at WFPD Station 1, 8200 Old Redwood Highway, on
the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm. Board meetings last an
average of an hour. Directors receive no compensation.
Interested parties must reside within the Fire District boundaries
and must submit a résumé and a letter of interest to Ron Collier,
Fire Chief, Windsor Fire Protection District, PO Box 530, Windsor,
CA 95492-0530. Letters & résumés will be accepted through 5:00 pm,
Friday, December 7, 2007. Those with questions may call (707)
838-1170.
Interviews will be conducted at the District’s December 18, 2007
Board meeting.
WFPD is a combination paid/volunteer department that is on track to
respond to 2,000 calls for service this year.
